Electronic Medical Equipment
Patient Monitors
GE CARESCAPE™ and DASH®, Philips IntelliVue, Mindray BeneVision, as well as other brands of multi-parameter patient monitors. Common problems with multiparameter patient monitors are failure to read vitals, power issues, and physical damage such as broken displays.
Vital Sign Monitors
Wide range of vital monitors such as Masimo Rainbow SET® Pulse CO-Oximetry, Welch Allyn® Connex® VSM, Welch Allyn® Spot Vital Signs, Welch Allyn® Propaq® LT Monitor, Nellcor pulse oximeter, GE line of CARESCAPE™ vital monitors, as well as other brands. Common issues seen in vital monitors are not reading vitals, NIBP pump failure, power and battery issues, and broken displays.
Diagnostic ECG
EKG machines such as EDAN, Welch Allyn® Mortara ELI™ series, GE Mac series, and others. Common issues seen are not receiving signals, power issues, and physical damage such as a broken screen and broken keypad.
Fetal Monitors
Typical fetal monitors are GE Corometrics™ fetal and maternal monitors, Philips Avalon FM series fetal and maternal monitors, as well as other brands. Common issues are failure to pick up signals, broken NIBP, and broken screens. Compatible fetal ultrasound transducers can break and fail as well.
Modules
Typical modules are GE CARESCAPE™ Respiratory Modules E-sCO, E-sCOV, E-sCAiO, E-sCAiOV, E-sCAiOE, E-sCAiOVE, Philips IntelliVue MMX Multi-Measurement and Microstream modules, and Masimo SET® modules. Common issues are failure to communicate, failure to boot up, pump failures, and leakage.
Infusion Pumps
Wide range of IV pumps such as CareFusion Alaris™ series, ICU Medical Plum 360™ and LifeCare PCA™, and Smiths-Medical Medfusion® series. Common problems seen in infusion pumps are pressure issues, sensory issues, communication issues, mechanism issues, and physical damage.
Enteral Feeding Pumps
Kangaroo™ range of enteral feeding pumps and Sentinel S-1000-SI enteral feeding pump. Common issues are physical damage and motor failure.
Durable Medical Equipment
Infant Warmers
GE Panda radiant warmer and GE Giraffe warmer. Common problems seen are heating issues, leakage, calibration, and resuscitator problems. Infant warmers require the rebuilding of the oxygen blender every 2 years.
Infant Incubators
GE Giraffe infant incubators, GE Ohio Ohmeda Care Plus incubators, and Drager Air-Shields infant incubators. Common problems seen are fan and element issues, mechanical problems, and electronic issues.
Phototherapy
GE Healthcare BiliSoft phototherapy system. A common issue is intensity problems with the BiliSoft LED and Bili-Blanket.
Oxygen Blenders
Air-Oxygen mixers and blenders from various brands such as Bio-Med Devices, CareFusion Bird, Precision Medical, and Sechrist. Oxygen blenders require a repair overhaul that is usually performed as part of preventative maintenance.
Autoclaves
Various ranges of autoclave sterilizers from brands such as Midmark Ritter, Tuttnauer, and others. Common issues seen in autoclave sterilizers are latch failure, vacuum pump failure, leakage, and failure to complete the sterilization cycle.
Rehabilitation & Physical Therapy Equipment
Rehab and physical therapy equipment such as traction systems, therapy tables, treadmills, steppers, bikes, and elliptical machines. Common problems with traction systems are motor failures and power supply failures. Therapy tables commonly have hydraulic failures and oil leakage. Medical treadmills commonly require belt replacements and adjustments and tend to have motor failure issues. Medical elliptical machines and steppers usually have mechanical failures. Physical therapy bikes have motor failures and require regular belt adjustments. Collectively, one issue rehabilitation and physical therapy equipment typically have is gear failure and belt misalignment resulting in a squeaking or creaking noise.
